The Global Human Touch

I am Thomas, founder of NaviGateway. I started this company from a passion for the international playing field—a world where I feel most at home at the intersection of cultures. Where the beaten paths end and real human connection begins.

Over the years, I've grown into this role and noticed that I can make a difference there: I help people move more freely in unfamiliar contexts, translate misunderstandings, and build connections where they aren't obvious. First the connection, then the content.

The World Is Not a Spreadsheet

My compass is always the human factor. Everywhere in the world, people fundamentally seek the same things: safety, love, recognition, and the challenge to grow and learn. I believe in the power of connection: soft on the relationship, but sharp on the content. Humor is an indispensable instrument for me; it breaks the ice and opens doors that would otherwise remain closed.

Our culture is the baggage we unconsciously always carry; it colors how we look, listen, and trust. By knowing a country's history and speaking the other's language—not just in words, but in gestures and understanding—a genuine connection emerges. Whether at a business dinner on the Bosphorus or in a sauna deep in Russia; success starts with the click between people. That is the Gateway.

International experience journey

Kilometers in Practice

That vision didn't emerge behind a desk, but in places where it gets tough. For the past twenty years, the world has been my office. I've known the restrained tension of boardrooms, but also the hectic of Asian factory floors, the cold fluorescent light of airports after a night flight, and the stuffy smell of exhibition halls and old coffee.

From cold acquisition to P&L responsibility and managing remote teams: I know the practice from the inside. I stood and still stand with my feet in the clay—whether it's Dutch, European, or intercontinental. Through the privilege of having worked in dozens of countries and with a great diversity of cultures, I've learned firsthand the human side of international business. I know from experience what it takes to not only make plans but to actually land them in a dynamic international reality.

Sharpen the Axe, Move the Boundary

Abraham Lincoln said it: "If I had six hours to chop down a tree, I'd spend the first four sharpening my axe."

Too many organizations storm across the border with a blunt axe. They lose energy, time, and capital because the fundamental preparation is missing. With NaviGateway, I teach organizations to sharpen the axe first. Not just to hit harder, but to aim smarter.

4R Framework

Navigating with the 4R Framework

From that philosophy, the 4R Method was born: Ready, Range, Route, and Rhythm. This is not a theoretical exercise, but a navigation system that works for any organization with international ambitions. We determine the starting point, measure the cultural distance, chart the route, and find the rhythm that ensures internationalization becomes structurally embedded.

The Mirror of the World

Internationalization is a mirror; it forces you to look at your own patterns and culture with fresh eyes. It's a process of discovery, falling, and getting back up, where every closed door that eventually opens creates an invaluable learning curve.

With NaviGateway, I bring that passion and experience together to help organizations grow in a mature, thoughtful, and lasting way.
